The way we organize ourselves and formally play in Battlefield is based off the assumption that we will have a full team of 32, and a commander. Each full lobby of 32 people is referred to as a “Fire team.” Each fire team will have 6 full squads of 5 people, 2 assets, and a commander. The highest skilled individuals are in fire team 1. The second highest in fire team 2, and so forth. Then within each fire team the highest skilled individuals are in Alpha squad of that fire team. With the second highest skilled people being in Bravo, then the third best players in Charlie, and so forth, all the way through foxtrot. Each squad will defend/attack the objective corresponding to their squad name in the current game. Thats not to say that the members of squad alpha on fire team 1 will always be alpha squad in every game. The 5 players in squad charlie could be echo squad in a certain game, then the next game they could be alpha squad. The names of the squads in the fire teams are strictly just for organization. They don't have to correspond to the squads in the game. So for example; fire team 1 is playing a conquest match. the 5 individuals of alpha squad are in charlie squad in the game, and the 5 members of charlie squad are in alpha squad. So during that game whoever is on alpha squad (the 5 members of charlie squad) will be designated to objective “A.” And the 5 members of charlie squad in the game (which are the 5 people in alpha) will be attacking/defending “C” for that game. So with all that being said, we only just defend enough objective to win the game. So if we are on a map with 5 objective we will hold at least 3. If there are 8 objective we will hold at least 5. Also, we will hold the objectives that are closest to our original spawn. This will allow everyone to cover each others back and it makes it a lot harder for enemies to get in behind anyone or flank. So if we spawn nearest E, D, and C, then whoever is in echo squad that game will defend/attack objective echo, and the 5 people in squad delta will defend/attack objective D, and squad C to objective charlie. So in this situation we will have squad A, B, and F left without a designated objective. These squads are referred to as “spare squads.” They will be at the commanders disposal for the most part. But they can also act as decoys to try and take over other objective to keep the enemy team busy. Or to help control the air, water, or ground with anti vehicle weapons, or to block off a possible flank that may be exposed, help with spotting, counter sniping, or just join another squad in defending or attacking their objective, amongst other tasks. Each squad is also ran by the squad leader. They are the one that sets up the defense and attack strategies, along with managing everything that goes on in the squad. Each squad will have at least one assault soldier, one engineer, one support, and one recon. And its up to the squad leader to assign the 5th roll. And rolls can vary throughout the game. As for the roll of the commander of each fire team, they are mainly responsible for directing the spare squads, but also assist in spotting incoming threats or calling out locations of infantry or vehicles, and giving any physical assists that they can. Such as care packages. So that just leaves the two assets of each fire team. These people will be in golf squad together. Their responsibilities mainly consist of making everyone else's game easier. Doing things such as rescuing someone from a hot spot that needs a ride out, being a sacrafice, delivering ammo or health, counter sniping, helping spot with either “MAV’s” or “PLD’s,” assisting another spare squad, or just straight up killing the enemy team members to keep them busy. During a game the 6 squad leaders, the commander, and both assets will be in a chat on a free walkie talkie app to occasionally talk with each other. the assets shouldn't really ever talk, they will just be there to hear everything thats going on in the game and all over the map. Also if someone went out to do something and gets pinned behind a rock getting shot at from an unknown location and needs a ride out or a decoy to get out, all that person has to do is say the word and the squad leader will notify an asset. Also since the assets work very closely with the commander, the three of them will be in a party together throughout the game. Now, with all that being explained, every single game you ever play with us, isn't a formal military setup as described above, thats just how practices and competition games will be played.
